"Look, it's the new girl!"

"Nice body she got there, hm?" A girl giggled from behind.

"Her posture's one of the rarest, I dare to say - I like it. She'd make a perfect Slytherin."

"I knooww. Hey, so what's your name??"

You're flustered when this big gang of Slytherins suddenly bombarded you with greetings and questions in the common room after Samantha and you just finished the tour of the house and were just about to chill around on the couch waiting for her to take care of her bladder business. Now you just have to wonder why she didn't bother to bring you to your room immediately after the tour.

"Vallerie.. I'm Vallerie Cranindor."

"Ooh, they did mention your name before, didn't they. Fancy your name, we do."

You sighed and forced a weak, defeated smile.

"Thanks." You shifted uncomfortably as some of the guys are jamming the seat next to you. You wonder if this is gonna be a bully or they're gonna group-molest you or something, but it's far too strange for that.

"Don't give us that look." One of them hoarsely laughed. "Just want to know about you more, is all."

That failed to make you feel any better.

Then a guy's voice trumpeted out from the depths of the crowds, "So rare to get new Slytherins these past few years, what with Mudbloods and Squibs roaming about. And I've heard about your family too; filled with legendary pure-blooded heroes..!"

The gang burst a loud "yeahhh" in response to the boy's saying and momentarily noise the room up. Wonder where they got these indiscreet rumors from, and what's all this hero thing? You thought you'll never really get how Slytherins think.

You tried to laugh along nevertheless as you correct them. "Not exactly 'heroes'. Just ordinary wizards and witches."

"Skilled ordinary wizards and witches. Every single pure-blood is destined to be blessed with terrific skills."

"And you're blessed with such a fiiine physical condition too. Perfect combination for a Slytherin. No wonder Draco is massively infatuated by you."

What?
You darted your eyes to the gang who hooted soon after and raised one of your eyebrows purposely to the one who just raised the commotion. "Massively what?"

"Massively, intensely, madly infatuated." Another girl from the crowd replied with her British accent. Another disturbing 'yeahhh' can be heard; it gets repetitive and rather annoying over time in your ears.

"Excuse me?" You leered to the girls. "He hates me."

The noise came almost instantly down to a complete silence upon your statement. The faces you bet you'll have difficulty remembering of are eying you with curiosity. "Really know?"

One of them sighed. "You don't know him, c'mon."

"He's been talking about you from ages-"

"No, I mean it," You cut breathlessly. "He doesn't like ..- wait, what didja just say?"

"What makes you think so 'nyway?"

"You must've heard about the catfight caused by me and him back in the express. And it's certainly not a good one."

"And then?"

"Well, you see, we've met before in the King's Cross, and we sorta got into (bleat) fight cuz I accidentally crashed onto him when I was running through the portal to Platform Nine and ..well you know which one. We made quite a commotion there. And that's not the first time we crashed onto each other; we've met about 2 years ago too, with the same manner as I met him today."

"So?"

"So obviously we don't get along well after then!" You exclaimed, tentatively raising your voice. "We've been throwing daggers from our eyes to each other."

"And that's what makes it sounds so dangerous!" A fit of high-pitched squeals echoed through the entire room. The guys are chuckling nefariously, and it makes you feel even less comfortable.

"Look guys-"

"You know, we girls have been eyeing you and him the entire time in the Great Hall!" One of them inquired.

"We sure are jealous of you, sugar! How come you could get along so well with him? And he even talked to you first too! Not even a friendly greet for us once, you know."

So not only they suspect you to be in a hot intimacy with that duck, now they're exclaiming that they have been stalking you since your arrival here?
Magnificent. So that's why you felt really uneasy back there. And what's with all that 'how come you could get along so well with him' thing? Didn't they even listen to what you just stated earlier? Can't they see the grim gleam of your eyes when you're looking at him? It's burning, and not in an affectionate way. In a murderous way.

"Let me guess. You all have crush on that duc-I mean, guy?"

They squealed again in unison far more louder than before, "Who doesn't?" while the guys began to thump off, complaining.

You're just about to say 'ME' loudly when someone slipped into the crowd and called your name.

"Hidden in the depths of these people, you don't suppose having a difficulty of breathing here?"

"Samantha," You jumped. Thank god she's here. You've been looking for her everywhere since she declared the tour.

"You cleaned the bathroom or something?"

"Sorry for the wait," She replied in a care-free manner and quickly whisked you out of the noisy throng.

"Sorry audience, I'm afraid I haven't shown her the room she'll be occupying yet, so make way."

The crowd lent a huffed 'okay' and waved their hands to you. You unwillingly waved back as you and Samantha scurried to the staircase from the common room.

But as if you hadn't have enough today, he made his appearance yet again when you both have reached the foots of the separating staircases of girls' and boys' dorm.

"Hey, Dray." Samantha greeted casually. 'Dray' raised his hand a little and was about to wave when his eyes came in intent contact with you. He quickly put his hand back down and gave you a scornful grin before he continued to trail down the stairs quietly. You sticked out your tongue and climbed the stairs to the girls' dorm.

"What's up the stick with him and you, really? Everyone's been talking about you after Dumbledore's speech." Sam got up as she searches through the hallway for your dorm room, seemingly amused with all the fuss.

"How am I supposed to know?" You dreadfully muttered.

She could only raise her shoulders up and open a door to a room at the end of the hall. You peeked over her shoulder.

"There you go. Your belongings have just been stuffed in, so you could-"

"Immediately nail myself to bed and hibernate like there's no tomorrow."

"..right." She laughed lightly and patted your shoulder. "But you'd want to unpack some of your things first and change to the dressing gown."

"Ain't I going to sleep with the other girls here?" You asked as you peered inside to the room; there's a really welcoming warmth from inside and a waft of sweet scent you couldn't quite make out from which it came from. Five canopy beds each fancied with different-colored blankets are lining up, backing the bright wallpapers of roses. You saw few bags alongside the wall near the door on the carpeted floor, yours are put between two large purses. Then Sam poked you again in the shoulder.

"Naturally, and luckily, I'm one of your dormmates."

That made you jump in excitement and hugged her in reflect. She looked a bit surprised, and so are you after you quickly let her go. "But I'll need to get the timetables from Professor Snape first before I could rest myself. The head of our house, you see, and a grumpy one - he asked me to fetch the syllabus for us before tomorrow. You sure you can do by yourself after I left you?"

"I can watch after myself," You chuckled after you let go of her hand and added, "thanks for today, Sam, if you don't mind me calling you that."

"Don't mention it, and no worries, it's easier to call me that way anyway."

She gave you a wink and a smirk before she scurries down the hallway again and now you found yourself all alone in the threshold of the room you're gonna occupy for the rest of the year. You turned your head to look around inside. Just as then you heard a loud echo of shrieks and squeals thundering from the common room downstairs. Having prospect that the girls just met Prince Charming who just came down earlier and getting a dull figure that some of them might be your fellow occupants of the room, they won't come up anytime soon.

You suddenly remembered about Ginny. And about what Sam just told you about the Weasleys.

"No.. they're my friends." You murmured lazily. "They're good guys."

You sighed idly and bent down to grab your bag from the floor.
